Johannes Münster joined the Research Unit Market Processes and Governance in 2001. He works on the economic theory of contests and conflicts, on rentseeking, and on labor market tournaments.

Johannes Münster studied Philosophy (M. A. 2000) and Economics (Diploma 2001) at the Free University of Berlin.

Since 2004 he is also affiliated with the Institut für öffentliche Finanzen und Sozialpolitik at the Free University of Berlin within the SFB/TR 15 "Governance and the Efficiency of Economic Systems".

He defended his Ph.D. Thesis "Mobbers, Robbers and Warriors. Six essays on the Theory of Contests" on July 20, 2006 (Free University of Berlin; Supervisors: Prof. Dr. Kai A. Konrad und Prof. Dr. Helmut Bester; summa cum laude).

In the winter term 2007/2008 he has been visiting the University of Bonn.

On April 2009 Johannes Münster changed within the SfB Transregio 15 "Governance und die Effizienz ökonomischer Systeme" into the project A1 "Allokationsmechanismen in Organisationen und Märkten" led by Professor Bester at the Free University of Berlin.
