Tim Lohse joined the Research Unit Market Processes and Governance in April 2008 and left the unit in September 2009. His research focuses on optimal tax-transfer-schemes, public goods that serve as an insurance device, and fiscal federalism.

Tim Lohse has studied economics at the Westfaelische Wilhelms-University Muenster and the University of Hannover (Diploma). He has also done a Master program in Economics at the Università Bocconi (Italy) (Master of Science). From January 2004 until March 2006 he has been a research assistant at the Institute of Public Finance at the Leibniz University Hannover. During this period he has done his PhD (Supervisors: Prof. Dr. St. Homburg, StB and Prof. Dr. U. Schmidt, University of Kiel; summa cum laude). He was awarded the Science Prize 2008 of the Leibniz University Hannover.
